Kunda, situated in district Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, is one of the lowest ranking regions for literacy in India. The majority of families are in an enormous struggle merely to survive. To get a job, to have a decent life, and hope for a bright future is something beyond their understanding and imagination. Given this economic condition, educating girls is the least of their priorities and hence neglected.
Keeping this in mind, Deepavali has partnered with a local India based charity, Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat (JKP), to establish a charitable educational institution for girls that provides 100% free education to all students.
Our Initiatives
The institution offers quality secular education at the following three levels:
Two schools and a University.
Supporting the initiative of establishing a vocational training institute. The institute will serve the needs of girls who were unable to attend graduate studies and will focus on industrial training in specialised trades such as: Baker and Confectioner, Basic Cosmetology and Sewing Technology.
Between the three institutions, the maximum enrolment capacity is currently running at approximately 5,000 students, with an aim of adding more every year.
All students also receive free uniforms (summer and winter), blankets, stationary and school bags.
The highest education institution, the undergraduate and post graduate programme delivered via Kripalu Mahila Mahavidyalay, offers the following qualifications all for free:
Bachelor of Arts
Bachelor of Science
Bachelor of Education
